WW2 US M1 Front Seam Helmet With Camouflage Net
A very good textbook example of the US M1 helmet with camouflage net , liner & original chinstraps.
Helmet shell is a front seam with swivel bales dating its production from October 1943 until around November 1944. These are known to have seen service in the NW Europe theatre of Operations (ETO) from the Spring of 1944 when casualty replacements started to arrive during the Normandy fighting. Paint finish is largely intact in the 'OD7' cork mixed factory paint of wartime issue on inside & out. Chinstrap buckles are of stamped steel this being the simplified design seen on most midwar steel shells from 1943. These were commonly used in the European Theatre of Operations. Liner has its original olive green factory paint to exterior with factory mark for the firm 'International Molded Plastics' . It is fitted with blackened brass A washers used around the 1944-45 period. Nape strap present which bears the contract number '16874' this being a large batch contracted on October 28th 1943. Headband also contract number marked. The leather liner chinstrap is a totally 100% wartime example having ink stamped maker mark to underside of leather . The camouflage net is typical of those used n the ETO 1944 onwards & typical of the GI during the Normandy fighting.
