Battledress is a 1940 pattern with label intact giving us the date of 1942. Both sleeves have sergeant rank stripes with combination patches on both of the 7th Armd Div with red arm of service stripe denoting infantry. The Queens shoulder titles are printed , very typical of working battledress worn in the field during the Normandy campaign. Clothing label is still readable giving 1942 date with a Leeds maker & an overall Size 13. The WD inspectors stamp of 'O' for the year 1942 is visible to underside of front fly.
Having been discovered in a greenhouse during a house clearance this BD shows heavy wear to the nap of the cloth with fading in places due to exposure to sunlight. It has some grubby marks & a tear to the rear of the collar with one button minus to right shoulder strap.
A rare piece to find from a Normandy unit , such items being almost impossible to source now.
