WW1 French Officers 8th Infantry Regiment Tunic
A wonderful WW1 French infantry officers tunic in the so called ' New Style' that appeared after the Spring of 1915.
This midwar style of tunic in gabardine was modelled on the British officers tunic being of a wide cut with long skirt , large & practical lower pockets with breast pockets having Watteau pleats . Collar is turn-down with gilt Infantry Regiment '8' numerals on blue collar patches. Dark blue arm of service braid for infantry. Shoulder straps & seven visible 'rugby ball' buttons again in the British officer style. French cuffs to sleeves with single rank gold rank bar for Sous-Lieutenant. Tunic has a tailor label from 'Nantes' .
In excellent condition with a couple of very minor moth holes noticeable only upon close inspection .
