WW2 British Home Front AFS Helmet ( Auxiliary Fire Service ) With Matching BMB maker & 1939 Date To Helmet & Liner
A 1939 dated Auxiliary Fire Service helmet with 'AFS' initials to front .
Helmet is a standard MkII with markings date to underside of rim 'BMB 1939' for the firm Briggs Motor Bodies. Liner cradle is also marked BMB & dated 1939.
Overall in very good condition.
The AFS were formed in 1938 to backup local Fire Brigades however all were merged into the National Fire Service in 1941.
