WW1 French Infantry Private Purchase Blue Kepi In Gabardine
A very good WW1 private purchase other ranks Kepi in light blue gabardine with black oilskin chinstrap & infantry buttons. These light blue versions of the lepi started appearing in 1914.
This cap is modelled on the prewar style with seam around the top portion of the band & was most likely made in the 1914-15 period. Worn by either an other rank or junior NCO it has a black sateen lining with leather sweatband. In very good condition it shows wear & has most definately been worn by a French soldier in the early WW1 period.
