WW1 French M1845 Infantry Adjutants Sabre Dated May 1916
A fabulous M1845 Infantry Adjutants Sabre with inscription to back of blade stating manufactured at Chatellerault in May 1916.
This piece has had its scabbard mounted with light blue uniform cloth reinforced with brown leather to bottom for field use. This is not a standard adornment & is individual to the officer who most likely intended to take it into the line with him as evidenced by its dirty state. Handle of the Sabre is made from filigree horn with brass hilt showing a serial number ' 04719 ' . In overall excellent condition there is no damage to the grip or hilt.
