WW1 French 2 Litre Waterbottle & Carrying Strap

A very acceptable condition French 2 litre waterbottle with blue wool cover.
The 2 litre bottles were only prewar issued to colonial troops however upon the outbreak of war were made general issue to all troops & sop were a classic trench item of equipment . Bottle cover has has laced up sides & is made from previously used uniform cloth as can be seen from the remains of a buttonhole on the side section. Its large cork stopper remains & there is a wire field repair to one end of the carrying strap where the bracket became damaged. The smaller spout hole is blocked & may have been down at the time.
