WW1 French Aviator Officers Tunic ,
WW1 French aviators wore many forms of dress type some coming as they were worn from previous such as the Engineers or Cavalry.
This horizon blue tunic is of the so called ' New' style with large hip pockets & typical of how some flying officers wore them. An open collar to be worn with a shirt & tie was preferred by some as here , also it was not uncommon to omit the wearing of any collar tabs at all. The unembossed half ball buttons were another preferred feature . Service chevrons & double officer rank bars to each sleeve are present.
Lined in a grey wool for extra warmth there are two belt loops to support belt & pistol holster to each side.
Overall very nice tunic with a couple of small moth nips discoverable only upon close inspection.
