WW2 USMC Grenade Vest

US Marines in the Pacific used 11-pocket grenade vests during the early war period . They were widely used by Marines on Guadalcanal and by the famous Carlson's Raiders during their 1942 raid on Makin Island. Carlson's Raiders were the first "special operations" troops in the US military, an elite strike force of hand picked, highly trained Marines. They stopped a Japanese brigade trying to take Henderson Field on Guadalcanal, at what became known as "Raider Ridge". The vests were used not only for grenades but just as often to carry extra ammunition for the Springfield or Garand. This US Army USMC WW2 Marine Raider Grenade Vest is in mint, unissued condition .
