Royal Marines Officer Private Purchase Pith Helmet

A rare high quality Royal Marines pith helmet from the pre WW2 period & made by the world renowned tailors Gieves Ltd.
This exceptional piece has survived in excellent condition with all of its leather edged cork body still firm. Complete with its intact leather chinstrap the upright flash on the side is the early Royal Marines pattern designed to match the early stable belt. Interior of helmet bears the tailor label ' Gieves Ltd' with the wording ' By Special Appointment To His Majesty The King ' above it. Named to sweatband with potential for further research.
