WW2 British Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby) Officers SD Cap (Early War 1939 Period)

A private purchase British officers SD cap of the Notts & Derby regiment with officer bronzed cap badge & N &D chinstrap buttons to each side.
This cap is constructed from scarcely encountered thick felt material often associated with some early war caps of the 1939 period & such as made by the well known London firm Gieves . The thick brown chinstrap is adjustable with heavy wear to the interior lining & some stitch repair to the rear of the cap. It is interesting to note the padded construction to forehead area where stitching away . There are some minor moth nips as expected with this type of material , these are mainly visible on the underside of the peak.
