WW1 French High Ranking Officers Kepi - 3rd Infantry Regiment
A fine private purchase French officer kepi of a Colonel in the 3rd Infantry regiment .
Cap is in the taller 'Polo' style preferred by younger officers over the older Saumur style , these were typically worn by officers in August 1914. Black banded with red top & gold rank braiding the Hungarian knot to top is of WW1 period. To sides are crossed cannon buttons typically denoting having transferred across from the Artillery & kept for tradition at the privilege of the officers discretion. Interior is lined in green satin with black leather headband . Pages from an old magazine have been used to keep the shape of the cap , most likely placed more recently for display purposes.
