WW2 British Blast Damaged MkII Helmet
It is very difficult to find British Tommy helmets with blast damage so this piece with shrapnel gashes to the top is a timely reminder of the British fighting soldier.
This helmet has been penetrated by shapnel from the inside causing one large jagged edged hole & also a second rip alongside from a penetrating hot shard as the result of a blast. The liner has been removed. An early MkII issue with 1938 dates to each of its aluminium chinstrap brackets, only very faint remains of the manufacturer are visible to the underside of the rim now mostly illegible .
A part of the chinstrap remains .
