WW2 Japanese Heavily Battle Damaged Navy Combat Helmet

A scarce battle damaged example of the late war issue Japanese Navy combat helmet with painted Naval insignia to front of it.
By 1944 the Japanese Navy were nearly shipless & so many personnel were converted over to ground combat roles in defence of the islands. Many lost their lives against the United States Marine Corps & other US military personnel .
A fascinating piece it tells the story of the brutal Island hopping fighting between the Japanese forces & Leathernecks of the USMC.
