Rare WW2 British First Pattern Skeletal Assault Jerkin 1944
A rare first pattern skeletal assault jerkin with 1943 date. This pattern was also known as the 'Mountain jerkin' as it could be worn in conjunction with the mountain rucksack or 'Bergen' as we know it today.
There is a very well known photo of these in wear by fully loaded British commandos just prior to the D-Day Landings ( See images ). Featuring the two frontal pouches for carriage of SMG, Thompson, Bren magazines etc , grenades etc it also had an integral loop to secure a spike bayonet for the No.4 rifle. Maker marked with broad arrow, size 'MEDIUM' & date 1943 it is in excellent unissued condition.
