WW2 British Home Front 'Control' Helmet 1940

A rare 'Control' staff helmet with 'CONTROL' to front & back & black stripes over white paint.
Worn by all senior Local Authority staff the role of Control was to ensure that preparations made by heads of branches such as Borough Surveyors , Chief Wardens, Medical Officer of Health etc were all correctly co ordinated.
This helmet comes completely untouched with chips & natural ageing to the paint & with its liner & liner bolt undisturbed. The very faint maker stamp of the helmet shell can be discerned to the underside of the rim with 1940 date to liner .
Straight from the dark days of the early war British Home Front period.
