WW1 German Prussian Uhlan Tschapka - 1915 Wartime Issue

A scarce wartime metal issue of the WW1 German Uhlan Tschapka complete with leather chinstrap. These should only have a national cockade on the right side the black & white badge of Prussia in the mortarboard negating the need to wear one on the left.
This version of the headgear for these famous cavalrymen is the wartime issue now only being issued with leather chinstraps as opposed to brass & grey coloured metal front plate from 1915 onwards. The detachable lacquered steel mortar board is secured to a grey coloured base plate by a bayonet lug mount . To the mortar board is the toggle for attachment of the knot & a field badge in the white & black colours of Prussia. There is only one cockade , the national, to its right side with no cockade on the left this totally correct as the field badge with Prussian colours was worn in place of it. It is of note that the ghosting of a cockade having been incorrectly seated here for some years can be seen this most likely due to these being often misassembled before given as USA Liberty Bond prizes in the postwar period ( See images ). To interior the original liner system is still present with a tear to one tongue that has had a small backing applied to stabilise it.
Overall scarce helmet from these famous German lancers still in action during the WW1 period.
