WW1 German Battle Damaged Helmet

A poignant reminder of the relentless carnage which was ongoing during the Great War this a bullet riddled German helmet in relic condition.
Many period images show helmets such as this often laying in the open after heavy fighting with heavy & prolonged bullet & shell damage to their entirety. Often left where they lay it was quite often not until many years later that they were discovered & kept by souvenir hunters & other interested parties.
