During the Franco -Prussian war this Division incorporated the '2.Grenadier Regt Nr 101' to which the buckle is marked before being being reorganised into a number of new regiments one of them being ' 16.Infanterie Regt Nr. 182' which is marked on the leather. The Saxon regimental markings are stamped onto one of these wide edges. The two piece buckle of brass & nickel shows three solder dots to reverse unlike the later 1895 patterns. The maker mark of ' G.Hosang' visible to reverse. Belt leather has brass hook with the regimental number '182R' to reverse.
