WW2 British 1939 Pattern Rigid Entrenching Tool & Carrier - 1939 Dates
A scarce example of the 1939 model entrenching tool & carrier for use with the '37 pattern webbing.
Designed by Mills these were initially adopted although found to be impractical due to the interference they caused to the wearers legs when worn as intended with the '37 pattern webbing set. Abolished in July 1941 not many still exist .
Tool is in excellent condiiton & is broad arrow stamped with the maker name of 'BRADES' & the date 1941.
The unblancoed web carrier has all of its correct fittings intact & the maker inkstamp of 'MECo' & date 1939 to inside.
