A 1917 dated MkVIII Verner compass & case named & engraved to a Lieutenant of the Royal Garrison Artillery.
Compass marked ' VERNERS PATENT VIII ' with engraved name 'GW MOORE' . To rear it is marked with serial number & date 1917 along with broad arrow. brown leather case marked 'French & Son Ltd , London 1917' with handwritten name Lt GW Moore RGA' .
Certainly lending itself to further research regarding the military career of this officer.
