WW1 German Messtin - 1918

A late WW1 model of German messtin this being one of the 'Ersatz' models in tin with green finish.
The tin or zinc coated messtins were produced up until the end of the war by some manufacturers who were still holding large stocks. Greatly replaced by the green enamel versions this would have been one of the last productions of its type.
This messtin is B initialled to the lid with the date '18' visible. Faint maker marking to body with fitting to lip for carriage of the fork & spoon set. There is a good amount of its green paint still remaining.
A scarce item to find.
