WW1 French Officers M15 Adrian With Acier Trempe Liner

An early French infantry M15 Adrian helmet which bears the liner of a private purchase 'Acier Trempe' helmet .
The Acier Trempe helmets were available on the commercial market before the general introduction of the M15 Adrian however these were soon banned due to being considered as not up to standard for combat use. The liners were , however, often transferred by officers into issue helmets as is the case here. With the distinctive light blue paint of the very first issues this example retains its ventilation strips & flaming grenade insignia firmly affixed to front. Chinstrap is one of the many ornately braided variations preferred by officers , these were optional & by no means standard.
