WW1 German Battle Damaged Camouflage M16 Helmet

A wonderfully original & untouched WW1 German three colour camouflage helmet with shrapnel hole straight through the top left front side & an original totally period chinstrap adapted from an ersatz pickelhaube.
This helmet has been painted in green , tan ochre & brown segments all seperated by black dividing lines. The hole to the top appears to have been caused by a depleted velocity fragment that has pushed a whole flap upwards which was later removed by repeated bending in order to be packaged or carried home. Paint loss around the area of the hole appears to confirm this , see images. All three of the liner pins are totally undisturbed with matching camouflage paint & not touched since it was made as is evidenced from an interior inspection. Underside of shell is marked with a visible 'W for the maker 'Hermann Weissenberger & Co'.The leather band is still tight to the shell this having only one row of stitching denoting early manufacture. All three pad holders are intact & undamaged with tightening cord still in place. Two of its cushion pads are still present inside their holders. I have undone the ,as yet, uninterfered with cord to inspect them. Interestingly , the chinstrap is from an ersatz pickelhaube this having steel buckle fitments & showing much field wear.
Overall wonderful piece & as with the best of the First World War camouflage helmets a one off in its own right.
