WW1 British Officers "Battle Damaged" Binoculars

A wonderful "Near miss" officers bring home pair of high quality binoculars showing the effects of likely a shell splinter . The case was clearly struck while hung about the person with the binoculars housed within . A typically pea sized piece of shrapnel has entered the front and exited through the bottom of the case , while in transit this projectile passed through one of the eyepieces and caused a rip and clearly powerful area of distortion . The whole unit is untouched since being taken or sent home . There are faint owners details to the base of the case that are part obliterated from the incident . A wonderful talking point and centre piece to a great war display .
