WW2 Finnish "Baltic " M40 Pattern Helmet .

A Finnish M40 helmet in original untouched condition.
Of perhaps any nation during WW2 the Finnish employed the greatest variety of steel helmets , being supplied with German , Austro-Hungarian , Hungarian , Swedish, Czech , Italian helmets to name a few ! They were to eventually come up with this simple design being the M40, a domestic copy of an earlier Swedish model . To find a nice textbook factory version, as here , still with the original leather liner is very hard , as most were reworked after 1961 . The paint has a nice been there patina and all leather is supple .To the interior dome is the "Wartslla" factory decal and to the rim a W73 size die stamp .
