WW1 British Tank Crew 'Splatter' Mask
A very crisp example of the iconic WW1 British Tank Crew "Splatter " mask . The chamois leather to the reverse shows only light use and the kapok like cushioning is still full and plump . Both factory tape tie cords are present . One can still see a thin twine length tied in place running through a small metal eyelet , this is the remains of what was the fitting instruction card that came upon masks when issued . All stitching is good and tight and importantly in the same twin needle hand applied stitch to the masks lower areas seam . The fine pig skin leather outer face is very good with a few minor age related scratches etc . A very much above average example.
