WW1 French Hussars Adrian Steel Helmet
A totally untouched Adrian helmet that has an 'always been there' cavalry chinstrap fitted denoting wear by such a unit.
Helmet is a standard M15 Adrian helmet of early issue with grenade badge as worn by both Infantry and also cavalry troops. Helmet is unique having had the chain chinstrap of brass links period fitted . This chinstrap was from a shako only worn by a few mounted French units being Chasseurs de Cheval , Chasseurs de Africa and , as here, most likely Hussars . Hussar connection is evidenced by the presence of a scratched in 5 pointed star to rear skirt, this in turn being a rendition of their M10 helmets insignia . The helmet also has the Soldat de Grande Guerre plate fitted and has received various depot overpaints . Untouched and a rare addition to any Adrian collection.
