WW1 French 1 Litre Assault Water Bottle Set in Khaki Mustard cover .
The M1877 Pattern water bottle was carried by the majority of French dismounted troops at the wars outset ,however the capacity was considered too small and thus a larger version became general issue . These small dimension bottles did continue in use and were often called "Assault " bottles that were carried when resupply was a problem . This example interestingly has been fitted with a Mustard / khaki cover of an early mixed wool and cotton blend , typical of 1915/16 .All stoppers are complete and the cover remains very good with only one small snag hole . The set comes with its original carry strap and tin mug .
