USMC Vietnam War Helmet With Graffiti & USMC Shirt From Same Man
A good combat example of a graffiti daubed camouflage covered US M1 helmet from the Vietnam period which has distinctive traits of USMC issue. Comes with the same mans USMC shirt with stencilled EGA insignia of the Marine Corps. Cover has much handscribbled graffiti applied to it with , for example, the place name 'JAPAN' where time was spent on leave from Vietnam. Other names , places & dates can be seen all in connection with this mans service. Underside of cover dated 1969. Cover has clearly always been with the helmet as evidenced by the correlation in its fitment witness marks to the shell & fraying around the rim areas as a result of heavy wear. A slight purple hue can also be seen around this edges this indicative of the classic purple colour found in the Vietnam soil. Faint markings to inside liner band . The OD7 shirt with stencilled EGA USMC insignia came with the helmet & belonged to the same man so I offer them both together .
