WW1 German NCOs Regimentally Marked Saxon Pickelhaube
A fine untouched & regimentally marked Saxon pickelhaube of NCO rank with NCO chinscales intended for best/parade dress but also worn in the trenches .
Of the M1895 pattern & with its original wartime shellac finish still remaining to helmet the front plate of Saxony is totally firm & has no extra holes evidencing the wartime fitment of this plate to this helmet. Both national & Saxon cockades present with correct non officer spike fittings to top. Interior dome shows size stamp of 56 & manufacturers stamp with 1915 date . Underside of rear peak gives us the regimental mark & date of '12 JR 1915' & also '103R' ( Saxon Infantry Regiment 103 ) .The 12 JR stamp refers to a Prussian unit & is typical of cross unit marking .there being no evidence of a Prussian plate having ever been fitted. The style of stamping being a number followed by 'R' is distinctive of a Saxon regimental marking. The maker ''H.Muller & Co , Offenbach ' is stamped into the brass edging around the front peak. Liner intact.
