This is an unblancoed largepack known as the Pattern 1908/Pattern 1914 Convertible Pack with no lower chapes or tongued buckles of the true 1914 pattern packs. So in simple terms it was converted into an '08 pack to be used with the '08 pattern webbing equipment which most troops were eventually equipped with.
