WW2 British Airborne "Everest Carrier" carrying frame.
These were used by Airborne & Commando forces for carrying heavy equipment such as ammunition boxes etc & can be seen in period photographs being used on combat operations. These were often worn as backpack however could be used on the Airborne bicycle.
